Lucian Claudiu Anghel
Chairman of the Board of Governors, Bucharest Stock Exchange
Dr. Anghel majored in economics at the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest. Following the completion of a Master’s degree in 1997, he received a Ph.D. from the same academic institution in 2002. Dr. Anghel also attended post graduate courses at Georgetown University, USA and an executive development program coordinated by HEC Montreal.
In January 2012, Dr. Anghel has been elected by the shareholders as the Chairman of the Board of Governors of Bucharest Stock Exchange. His 4 years mandate was renewed starting with January, 2016. Also Dr. Anghel is currently the Chairman of the Indices Commission, Chairman of the Nomination Committee and member of the Audit Committee. He is serving also as the Chairman of the Audit Committee of the Federation of Euro-Asian Stock Exchanges (FEAS).
Working in the financial sector for over 20 years, Dr Anghel held multiple top managerial positions such as CEO of BCR Banca pentru Locuinte, CEO of BCR Pensii, Chief Economist and Head of Strategy and Research Division, coordinating the strategic programs of BCR Group, Deputy Executive Manager of the Treasury Division of BCR Group. He was also member of the Supervisory Board of Erste Asset Management and BCR Asset Management for more than 5 years. In 2008, he co-founded the Association of the Financial Banking Analysts in Romania (AAFBR) and serves in the board as the first Chairman. He was appointed as Foreign Investors Council key expert within the economic re-launch Program: “Program for Economic Growth” and also served as external expert for the World Bank.
Dr. Anghel is an associate professor at the National School of Administration and Political Science of Bucharest.
