One of the main themes of this year’s CEO Conference – Shaping the Future will explore the transformation from a V.U.C.A. (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous) world to a B.A.N.I. (Brittle, Anxious, Nonlinear, Incomprehensible) world — a concept developed by futurist Jamais Cascio, who will join us as our special guest.

Keynote speaker - Yasser El-Gammal
Yasser El-Gammal is the Country Manager for the World Bank in Romania and Hungary.
In this role, he leads the strategic dialogue with government authorities, and other stakeholders. With nearly 30 years of experience, Yasser has dedicated his career to human development and major flagship programs in social protection and labor issues across the Middle East and North Africa, Europe and Central Asia, East Asia and Pacific, and Africa regions. Yasser has been managing client dialogue in different management capacities since 2011. From 2011 to 2015, he served as the Social Protection and Labor Practice Manager in the Middle East and North Africa region. Between 2016 – 2020 he served as the Country Manager for the World Bank in Rwanda.
Before starting his current assignment in Romania, he was the Social Protection and Labor Practice Manager in East Asia and Pacific based in Bangkok. Prior to joining the World Bank, Yasser worked with an international NGO and the Social Fund for Development in Egypt. An Egyptian and Canadian national, he holds an M.Sc degree in National Development and Project Planning from the University of Bradford, UK.
Special Guest - Jamais Cascio
Selected by Foreign Policy magazine as one of their Top 100 Global Thinkers, Jamais Cascio has explored the intersection of environment, technology, and culture for over 25 years, specializing in the creation and exploration of plausible future scenarios. In 2018, he created the “BANI” framework for understanding a chaotic world; this model is now in use by businesses, academics, and governments around the world.
His 2025 book Navigating the Age of Chaos: A Sense-Making Guide to a BANI World That Doesn’t Make Sense digs into the meaning and uses of the BANI framework. In 2010, he was named a Distinguished Fellow at the Institute for the Future, and continues to work with them on a wide array of projects. Cascio’s work has appeared across media, from academic journals and books to film documentaries and television science shows, and he speaks globally about future possibilities.
In early 2009, he released his first book, Hacking the Earth: Understanding the Consequences of Geoengineering. He was invited the following year to present on the subject at the U.S. National Academies of Science. In 2017, the University of Advancing Technology awarded him an Honorary Doctorate in recognition of his ongoing work to build a better future.
